Founder
Emily Auten is the founder and former con-chair of LTU Expo. Her mission is to create a fun and unique event that connects students and the local community. Emily is a full-time email copywriter for a charity organization and an alum of the Technical and Professional Communications graduate program. After she was inspired by the Game Expo, she created her first video game for her graduate thesis. Passage: A Job Interview Simulator blends elements of communication studies and visual novel style storytelling to teach job interview techniques to players in a fun and engaging way. She plans on releasing the full game in 2021 and supporting future expos and events. Emily is very excited to see the event live on through students and professors for years to come!

Mars Ashton

Faculty Advisor
Mars Ashton is an award-winning Indie Game Developer, Assistant Professor of Game Design at Lawrence Technological University, and a QA Tester for Finji. He explores social structures and human-centric narratives both within the play space of games and through the process of creating them. His work includes the topics of transhumanism, existentialism, and the often conflicting role of the self vs. the group that can be found throughout folklore and mythology.

Spencer Baughman

Coordinator
Spencer Baughman is a Narrative Designer, Composer, 2D Artist and Founder of Attempting Entertainment. He has been mentored under Elaine Gomez, Senior Game Designer at E-Line Media on the nature of narrative design which led to giving a peer reviewed talk on the topic at the Great Lakes Game Expo. Aware of the industry's notorious labor problem, Spencer also founded the Detroit Chapter of Game Workers Unite, an organization dedicated to help unionize the largely unregulated field which itself led to being interviewed by Bloomberg about the experience. He currently is a QA tester for the Quantum Astrophysicists Guild and graduates Lawrence Technological University the fall semester of 2021 with the goal of pursuing his masters degree soon thereafter.
